Gleeds wins triple appointment at Aston University
Gleeds has been named as cost manager on 3 new projects for Aston University in Birmingham. The schemes carry a combined value of £2.5 million and are Gleeds’ first appointments under the Aston University Framework.
Works include the conversion of existing laboratories into new office space for PhD students in the School of Life and Health Sciences, located on the 4th floor of the main campus building. There will also be an extensive programme of remodelling within the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Both projects will deliver a vastly improved learning environment for students.
The final scheme involves the construction of a brand new nursery facility, following the allocation of existing buildings for use by HS2. The nursery will be available for use by both students and the surrounding community, and has been carefully designed as a modular build to ensure it is ready for occupation by the end of the year.
Commenting on the appointment, Lindsay McCombe, Director of Gleeds Birmingham, said; “We are delighted to be working alongside Aston University on these projects. Gleeds has amassed considerable experience in the further education sector and formed part of a team that successfully delivered a large student accommodation project for the University in 2014. We look forward to works commencing on site soon.”
Alan Charters, Executive Director for Estates and Capital Developments, added; “At Aston University we pride ourselves on our ability to provide leading edge facilities across our range of courses. I am pleased to be working with Gleeds on these 3 very different, but equally important schemes, which will continue to improve the learning environment that we offer our students.”
